IDEAnet is dedicated to improving services for people with disabilities through disability research and development; global distribution of better, more affordable prosthetics, orthotics and wheelchairs; and development of quality disability education and training programs for national and international rehabilitation service providers.
IDEAnet is a program of the Center for International Rehabilitation (CIR), which was founded in 1996 by Dr. William Kennedy Smith to help people with disabilities worldwide achieve their full potential through humanitarian medicine. CIR is an outgrowth of Physicians Against Landmines, also founded by Dr. Smith.
